Nancy (Crean) Hotson ‘96
An SCS Alum and proud parent of two children (including a Clementine!) Having left a career in banking, Nancy immersed herself in volunteering and community service.
“Learning to work to your absolute best was a wonderful value to learn as a student, and is a wonderful value that I carry with me today.”
Which SCS values resonate most for you?
Excellence resonated with me most while I was at SCS and continues to resonate today. As a student, I remember always being pushed to be my best, whether it was in academics, athletics, or co-curriculars.
I don’t think there was anything that we did back then that wasn’t excellent. Looking back, I’m proud of what we accomplished.
From your SCS experience, what is foundational to who you are today?
One of the things that stands out was how important community was to SCS, and also how important it was to give back to the broader SCS community.
There are countless examples I could give as to how we were taught to look out for each other, and to give back to each other.
What have you found most satisfying about your chosen career path?
While I found my career as a banker to be very satisfying, I find my roles now as a volunteer to be even more satisfying.
There is nothing as wonderful as knowing that you have done something to help someone else.
What does it mean to be part of the SCS Alum community?
Being part of the SCS Alum community means that you will always have a network of fellow Clementines to reach out to if you’re in need of advice, direction, or assistance in any stage of your life.
What advice do you have for today’s SCS students?
Enjoy every moment of your time at the School, and take advantage of all that the School has to offer.
You will never get this time again, and you will never have as many exciting options available to you in one place again - so truly enjoy it all!
